Rejoice + Rest

You know that feeling when you have so many things on your plate and you think, "Once I finish this task, everything will be better and I can finally relax."

For the past two years I catch myself repeating that phrase quite often--right before a big test, an interview, or big events in life. Always looking past the "now" and telling myself that the future will be different. Somehow I assume it will simply be easier.

Living for the moment has always been one of my biggest downfalls. I'm always looking forward. This week God has given me refreshed hope and a new perspective of what it means to do everything for His glory. And doing it now rather than planning for it later. I've been enjoying the company of new friends, exploring how potential hobbies might become a career, and am thankful for new opportunities at work.

God is allowing my to see my shortcoming as a place for growth as I learn to enjoy the here and now, relying on Him to guide me through every task that comes and knowing that among the busyness I can find true rest in Him.

"You have given me greater joy

than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.

In peace I will lie down and sleep,

for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe."
Psalm 4:7–8
